Chess – Regional and Provincial Colours (Qualification for Closed National U8 Open)

Congratulations to Parth Thakur (Grade 2D), who participated in the Gauteng Inter-Region Chess Tournament representing the Johannesburg Metro Chess Region in the Under-8 Open category on 7–8 December 2025 at Emerald Resort & Casino.

His team won a gold medal in their category, and Parth received the Board 1 prize for winning all his games. He then went on to represent Gauteng at the Provincial Championships, held from 15–20 December 2025 in Port Elizabeth. The Gauteng team won gold in the Under-8 Open category, and Parth was the top performer. As a result of his outstanding performance, Parth qualified for the Closed Nationals in the Under-8 category.

Powerlifting Championship

Congratulations to Persais Serge (5D), who competed in the North-West Powerlifting Championship held on Saturday, 14 February 2026, in the Youth Category.

Persais achieved outstanding results, winning gold medals in the squat, bench press, and deadlift. She placed first overall and was awarded the title of ‘Best Female Youth Lifter’. Well done, Persais!
