South African Korfball

What is Korfball

Korfball is a game similar to netball and basketball, invented in 1901 by an Amsterdam schoolmaster. It was fit demonstrated in the Netherlands in 1902 and was played on an international level, primarily in Europe and later started being played in South Africa as the South African Korfball Federation (SAKF) was formed. The SAKFis the governing body for the sport of Korfball in South Africa.

It is affiliated with the world governing body International Korfball Federation. What makes Korfball truly unique is that it is a sport with absolute equality at its heart. There are no set positions in Korfball; no player is marked as a shooter, defender or goalkeeper. For o team to function well, all players must be prepared to toke up any role.


How does the school benefit?

On each Entry list there are 30 (Thirty) entry ticket numbers that are each sold at RS0 a ticket. Each list is therefore R 1500 if completed in full. SA Korfball is offering Bryneven Primary School o total of RS00 towards the school for every list completed. The R 1000 per list will go towards raising funds to get the team to Zambia In November 2022.

If the school sells 40 lists, then a total amount of R20 000.00 goes towards the school. The more forms we complete the more funds the school will make. The funds raised by the school will go towards the building of a multipurpose court.


Collection Deadline?

All lists and the money collected should be given in to the teacher by Monday the 31•1 of October 2022. There will be on independently audited draw that will be streamed live on the SA Korfboll Focebook page. The details of this draw will be shared on the D6.
